Best Practice Symposium for Social and Community Development

Objective of the Symposium: To document and showcase best practices in social development, and to stimulate and strengthen national dialogue on successful strategies in tackling critical development issues.

The Symposium is usually organized around the six pillars of the CRP. These pillars are:

  • Socio-Economic Development
  • Social Transformation
  • Physical Transformation
  • Youth Development
  • Safety and Justice
  • Governance


The Symposium is hosted by the Planning Institute of Jamaica’s (PIOJ) Community Renewal Programme (CRP) and its partners, namely, the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF), the Citizen Security and Justice Programme (CSJP), the Jamaica Public Service (JPS), the National Housing Trust (NHT) and the Social Development Commission (SDC). The Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ) and USAID – FHI Local Partner Development (LPD) have partnered at least once in the three-year lifespan of the Symposium.
